Evony blends city-building with zombie survival surprisingly well. The 'real-time strategy' elements are genuine—troop positioning, hero abilities, and timing matter. However, the 'free' claim is misleading while technically true; paying players advance 10x faster. The zombie boss battles (B1, B2, etc.) provide good PvE content. The 'forge empires' description is accurate if you're patient or wealthy.
Playable without spending but requires extreme patience. The alt account strategy is essentially mandatory for free players—without resource funneling, progression crawls. The 'optional coin packs' are pushed aggressively. Zombie mode is fun but repetitive after 50+ waves. The '100-wave sieges' are brutal without premium heroes. Solid game, predatory monetization.
The alliance system makes this game—coordinating rallies, sharing resources, and defending allies creates genuine social bonds. The 'fend off the undead' together is more fun than solo play. The RTS controls (drag to pan, click to deploy) work well on both PC and mobile. The 'machine guns and rocket launchers' hero weapons are visually satisfying. Best MMO strategy on mobile.

The beginner guides are essential—without them, I wasted resources and got zeroed. The 'Link your Account' and 'Always Keep your Bubble' tips saved me. The progression from 'tutorial skirmishes' to actual warfare is well-paced. The '17-clue nightmare' equivalent here is getting attacked by whales (big spenders)—avoid them entirely. Good strategy depth for a mobile game.
The zombie survival mode is my favorite part—mixing tower defense with RTS. The 'shoot digital gates to summon troops' mechanic is unique. Freezing rays and rocket launchers create satisfying crowd control. However, the 'relentless hordes' become repetitive after wave 30. The permanent upgrades (range, reload speed) provide meaningful progression. Wish there were more zombie variants.
